Dale Laitinen

September 14 - 18, 2020        $550

Dale Laitinen is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society (NWS) and Watercolor West (WW). He has been featured in The Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor Magic, Watercolor Magazine, Drawingboard Magazine and in several books including The Splash Series, Painting with the White of your Paper, The Transparent Watercolor Wheel and more!

"Watercolor is all about timing — and understanding the effects created by differing amounts of color and water on the brush. That knowledge comes with experience; consequently, although painting wet into wet (applying paint to a wet surface) and color charging (mingling wet colors on the surface) are two of the most basic techniques, they’re also two of the most difficult to master. Even if you’ve been painting in watercolor for a while, renewed attention to these techniques could take your work to the next level."   Dale Laitinen

Dale is a very popular workshop instructor. Not surprisingly. He is so willing to share his techniques for achieving such beautiful paintings that capture both the real and the abstract in nature. I once heard him describe his approcah as beginning with a small section of a realistic scene, getting that fragment on paper, and then abstracting the remainder of the landscape surrounding his subject. What a wonderful approach to be able to partake of both "worlds."
